Catholic Dance Contest 2007

OK…so I have decided to have a contest.  I have NO IDEA what to expect, I have NO IDEA what is going to happen, I have NO IDEA if anyone will even care…but…I am still going to do it.

Since video websites are EXTREMELY POPULAR I am going to have a Catholic Dance Video Contest.  I want you to take your video camera, record yourself, your family, your priest, your youth group, your mom, your school, your anyone doing the Catholic Dance.  Post it on YouTube and email me the link.  I will post all of the videos on my site and we will have a contest.

I am thinking about giving away an iPod nano as a prize.  (peaked your interest yet?)

So…I guess there should be rules….here they are.

1. One entry per person/youth group/church/event.

2. The winner of the iPod will be the person who POSTED the video.

3. The contest will go until Dec. 31, 2007.  My guess is that most of the videos will come in after I announce the contest to thousands at NCYC on November 8-10, 2007 in Columbus, OH.

4. In January we will vote on the videos submitted and have a winner.

5. Have fun.  Share the Catholic Dance with everyone and take pride in your faith, your religion and your God!

So…sound like fun.  If you don’t know what the dance is…I am going to make my video in the next couple weeks and you will know.  If you want a sneak peek…look at “The Catholic Dance?” page for the Sweet Moves!  :)

More info as it comes out but I think 2007 is going to be the year of “The Catholic Dance”!

My first ever podcast debut’s today!

So I posted last week about this but I have to post one more time…in case you were not aware…

Inside the Youth Minister's Studio

Here is some cool things about it…

QUOTE TO NOTE: At any type of event when we gather youth together, the goal is to have them bring something with them (home) from it. To have that pride of what they are and who they are. And to really spread the word.
OBSCURE FACTOID: The Catholic Dance was a part of the celebration at the National Conference on Catholic Youth Ministry in Las Vegas in December. This YouTube link should never be shown to our young people- – – Yes, we do dance and party in our seats at the adult conferences. Bill is leading the way, even Jesse Manibusen danced, and video was contribute by our tech-friendly Canadian friend
Clay Imoo.

Go now…hear my thoughts on the Ministry of the Catholic Dance!!

I found it!! I found it online!! I found the Catholic Dance!!

Finally..I found a video of the Catholic Dance on YouTube! I did a search for my friend Jesse Manibusan and found 2 videos. Once was him in Las Vegas during a “Dance Off” and the other one was some people who were in attendance of the show who filmed Jesse dancing to the Catholic Dance! It is me up on stage and my crazy voice over the main speakers.  Crazy!!  The thing is that this video shows a large group of people doing the Catholic Dance. Check it out…

Catholic Dance on YouTube

I am still going to do a video of the Catholic Dance at some point but until then this is a small taste of what the Catholic Dance is.  It is silly, it is fun, it is something that a group of people can do to celebrate their joy and love for Christ!  It is all about Full, Active, Conscious Participation in your Catholic Faith!

The Catholic Dance website is #1

Yes…it is true.  Go to Google, Yahoo or MSN and do a search for Catholic Dance and we are the number 1 and number 2 results!  :)

I am glad to see that for those keywords my site comes up first.  Not sure how many people in the world are searching right now for the words Catholic Dance but it is nice to know that if they are…they will find my little site.

Hopefully after National Catholic Youth Conference 2007 in Ohio we will make this site very popular for all the youth across the USA!  It is good to have a goal!!

DJ Bill is a Mobile Disc Jockey and also a Master of Ceremonies.  However, in a few weeks, DJ Bill Lage will be a…..ROCKSTAR!!

Yes it is true.  I am giving my first ever CONCERT!  A hybrid of my all ready interactive dance.  To suit the needs of a Junior High event I am doing in the Diocese of Fargo, I will be not having a dance but I will be performing a concert.  How does that differ from what you usually do?

Honestly it does not…most of my dances I am on a stage and the crowd is facing me and following me in my interactive dances.  This is a GREAT way to have a dance without worrying about the normal dance issues.  Giving the kids step by step things to do will allow them to all participate and be involved.

So…I am excited to have my first OFFICIAL concert.  I hope I am a rockstar when all is done!  :)

You gotta get yourself connected…

I have to admit…I don’t think of myself as a salesman. In fact, I find it fun talking to people and sharing with them what I do.

I am not a big fan of calling people and having to sell what I do. I like to see what they are currently doing and how my participation can help or assist. For example, today I called someone from Virginia and it was fun just talking to them and finding out about what they are doing for the youth of their diocese.

So in order to keep connected with everyone I am trying to start a Newsletter. My goal is to make friendships with youth leaders on all levels, parish and diocesan, and keep in touch with them. My hope is to have a monthly newsletter with some information on things to do to ensure your events (especially dances) will be a success.

If you would like to sign up for the newsletter, their is a place to do so just left of this post…yeah…right over there!

< ----- At the top where it says Catholic Dance Newsletter!

All I need is your name and email. That is it. Again, if you receive the newsletter and do not want to get it anymore, there will always be a link at the bottom to unsubscribe. I do not like SPAM just like you so I will not do that to you. I PROMISE!

Thank you for signing up and be on the look out for news about a new promotional video being made and all the places I will be in 2007!

MySpace, YourSpace, OurSpace, Cyberspace??

Yes it is true…DJ Bill is on MySpace! Feel free to check out my very plain and boring MySpace at

Now, with that being said, I want to caution you before going there…

My first experience with MySpace was not a positive one. I was setting up my account, searching for people I knew and saw that there were a lot of things out there. My wife was upset that I was there and my account was closed. I found that it was not a positive place for me. I wanted to stay a strong man of God so I chose to close my account and move on.

For about a year I boycotted MySpace and just did not agree with what it stood for, what it was and how it could lead people into temptation. I also found that most of the advertisements for dating sites were quite PG-13 if not worse. A lot of my friends were on MySpace and some of my all time favorite artists were on there so I struggled not being a part of it.

So after a lot of prayer and a change of focus with things I am back. I believe MySpace is no different then the offline world we live in. Temptation everywhere. People of all different types and kinds trying to lure you away from your goals and what you believe. I have gone back on to MySpace with a new resolve to be a positive light to the people there. To be myself and show the world who DJ Bill Lage is and show Jesus through His example! Temptation will always be there if you are online or offline. The goal is to be who God has made you to be and simply keep Chasing Jesus!

Be safe and keep your eyes focused and you will be great. I will be praying for you!

Catholic Dance website is Live!

Welcome to the Catholic Dance website. I am very excited to be able to share with the world a little dance that started in Ada, MN at the Crookston Diocese Youth Rally. Next thing you know it was one of the main attractions for the DJ Bill Lage fun show at all of his church and youth events.

Now the Catholic Dance will be shown to all of the attendants of the NFCYM conference in Las Vegas. On Friday night, I will be a part of the Las Vegas Unplugged—The Artist’s Coffeehouse where myself and about 15 other musical artists and acts will be performing. The cool thing is after this show I will officially be a “Vegas Performer”. I hope I get a video to share with all of you on the site after the show!

I am looking forward to working with my friends Gene and Brad from Apex Ministries! Those crazy guys are amazing and I am sure that they will add a comedic slant to the show like never before…especially with me being their DJ! He he he!

Anyway, please pray for the trip and that God’s work is done. I like to believe that God wants us to dance and celebrate the joy in our lives. This is the whole basis and foundation of the Catholic Dance!

Thanks for stopping by…please feel free to leave a comment!
