2007 is starting off with a bang!

I have to admit, sometimes the daily tasks of life can seem overwhelming.  Between working with people, getting things organized, creating new things and making sure to not get behind there is always something to do.

Here is just a short list of the things I am working on…

1. VIDEOS – a video of the Catholic Dance.  it will happen.  I have recruited my friend Rob from Spirit Juice Studios to help me with this project.  Check his link on the left side. This will be one of the many videos that i will be making sure are a part of my site!

2. PROMOTION – I have a need to advertise who I am.  I am new to the National scene but have been doing regional youth events for almost 10 years now (dang I am getting OLD!)  So with my Las Vegas launch of the Catholic Dance I have the Diocese of Rochester in New York (thanks Sue!) set for April and a bunch of other dioceses looking into my show for their youth event in the fall and into 2008!  Keep an eye open for something in the mail before February!!

3. SHOWS – among all of that stuff and balancing family responsibilities I am still keeping very busy with shows.  I had a great time helping out with the St. Hubert’s lock in last Friday.  The youth seemed to really get into the dance and they all enjoyed the Catholic Dance!  I tell you…it is spreading!  The goal is to be bigger than the macarena!  :)

So…please keep checking back, bookmark my site, comment on my blog, sign up for my newsletter that will have its very first issue within the next 2 weeks! 2007 is indeed the year for the Catholic Dance to get moving through out the Nation!

Peace,

DJ Bill

Youth Rally Entertainment – What exactly does DJ Bill do??

The one thing is people are a little confused as to what it is exactly what I do. So I am going to try to the best of my ability explain what I do.

1. DJ Bill Entertains – I am not your local mobile DJ. I am a complete high energy, interactive show. I use a stage, get kids involved, teach them dances, play games, give away prizes, spray them with toilet paper, etc,. It is more of a concert feel then your run of the mill dance. Normally I provide a 2 hour show that will hold everyones attention and we will make sure everyone leaves thinking that they had the best time ever.

2. DJ Bill Tells Stories – I love to share my faith and my heart with youth. I have a passion for Jesus and the Catholic church and I love telling people how I embrace being different then the norm and how it is important to not be like everyone else. When I am able to keynote, I focus a lot on how important my faith and pray life is to me. I also love sharing how the Holy Spirit can be the “spiritual lighter fluid” to set our hearts on fire!

3. DJ Bill Is Present The Whole Day – At most youth rallies I attend, I always make sure to be there and participate during the whole day. I think it is important for the youth to see this example but also to be available in case someone needs a prayer or assistance. I believe it is important to live in the moment and be a part of the whole community. Also, if you need an emergency filler up on stage…I am just a few steps away. My goal is that your event goes smoothly and that everyone not only is entertained but has an amazing time!

4. DJ Bill Warms Up The Crowd – If your event starts at 10:00am…then get me on stage at 9:30am! I think it is very important to set the right tone and have people arriving into something happening instead of an empty room with nothing going on. Energy breeds energy. Having kids up and doing something will attract people arriving and will make them want to join in.

5. DJ Bill Knows Youth Rallies – I have been involved in all different stages of planning and organizing youth rallies for over 20 years now. I am always available for advice, thoughts or any questions that people have. In fact, some of that knowledge

So….that is me in a nut shell. I hope you agree that what I offer is something that is fun, exciting, different and unique.

I look forward to chatting with you soon.

You gotta get yourself connected…

I have to admit…I don’t think of myself as a salesman. In fact, I find it fun talking to people and sharing with them what I do.

I am not a big fan of calling people and having to sell what I do. I like to see what they are currently doing and how my participation can help or assist. For example, today I called someone from Virginia and it was fun just talking to them and finding out about what they are doing for the youth of their diocese.

So in order to keep connected with everyone I am trying to start a Newsletter. My goal is to make friendships with youth leaders on all levels, parish and diocesan, and keep in touch with them. My hope is to have a monthly newsletter with some information on things to do to ensure your events (especially dances) will be a success.

If you would like to sign up for the newsletter, their is a place to do so just left of this post…yeah…right over there!

< ----- At the top where it says Catholic Dance Newsletter!

All I need is your name and email. That is it. Again, if you receive the newsletter and do not want to get it anymore, there will always be a link at the bottom to unsubscribe. I do not like SPAM just like you so I will not do that to you. I PROMISE!

Thank you for signing up and be on the look out for news about a new promotional video being made and all the places I will be in 2007!

Peace,

Merry Christmas from DJ Bill!

Merry Christmas everyone.  My son Austin is so excited that Christmas is almost here.  He keeps opening a day on his Advent calendar and counting down.  Since he is 5 years old he cannot wait until Christmas day.  He even made me a present at school so I am very excited to see what the loosely wrapped in a brown paper bag with crayon and marker hearts on it contains.  (it is truly the thought that counts!)

I am happy to be able to take the next few weeks to take some time off from entertaining, focus on my family and the miracle of Christmas once again.  I pray that everyone has a blessed Christmas and that you all remember that Jesus is not only the reason for the Christmas season but the only reason for everything.

I pray for PEACE and a blessed  2007 for everyone and all of your families!

The Catholic Dance is spreading…

Yes it is true.  The Catholic Dance is spreading.  Since showing the world at the NCCYM conference in Las Vegas two short weeks ago.  I have had a great response to my new website CatholicDance.com, I have added a ton of new friends to my MySpace page and it is not even 2007 yet!

Keep praying that the Lord will use me as He wills. My prayer for the rest of the year (and beyond) is “Here I am Lord, I have come to do Your Will!”  This is a tough prayer but one I believe that I need to be doing and so far I am booking shows and will be spreading the DJ Bill Lage Fun Show accross the nation!

Immaculate Conception – Dec. 8, 2006
Monday December 11th 2006, 3:21 pm

So you learn something new everyday. I was talking with my wife about getting to Mass on Friday since it was the Immaculate Conception and a Holy Day of Obligation. I told my wife that it sure seemed weird that the Immaculate Conception was in December since Jesus’ birthday was only a few weeks away.

So after my wife stopped laughing at me she said it is not about Jesus…it is about Mary being born without original sin!

**The Light bulb went on**

I said “OH!! It all makes sense now!”

Wanting to verify that my wife was correct I had to do a quick Google search online and found this information…

In the Constitution Ineffabilis Deus of 8 December, 1854, Pius IX pronounced and defined that the Blessed Virgin Mary “in the first instance of her conception, by a singular privilege and grace granted by God, in view of the merits of Jesus Christ, the Saviour of the human race, was preserved exempt from all stain of original sin.”

http://www.newadvent.org/cathen/07674d.htm

Good information there and yes…my wife was right! So I guess being 36 and a Lay minister of the Catholic Faith it is good to still learn something new everyday. God is always teaching you and helping us learn new things. My challenge is to always be open to learning something new and not think I know it all!

I pray you all were able to make it to Mass and I pray you are feeling an eager anticipation during this Advent season for our Savior’s birth!

Peace,

MySpace, YourSpace, OurSpace, Cyberspace??

Yes it is true…DJ Bill is on MySpace! Feel free to check out my very plain and boring MySpace at http://www.myspace.com/djbillrocks.

Now, with that being said, I want to caution you before going there…

My first experience with MySpace was not a positive one. I was setting up my account, searching for people I knew and saw that there were a lot of things out there. My wife was upset that I was there and my account was closed. I found that it was not a positive place for me. I wanted to stay a strong man of God so I chose to close my account and move on.

For about a year I boycotted MySpace and just did not agree with what it stood for, what it was and how it could lead people into temptation. I also found that most of the advertisements for dating sites were quite PG-13 if not worse. A lot of my friends were on MySpace and some of my all time favorite artists were on there so I struggled not being a part of it.

So after a lot of prayer and a change of focus with things I am back. I believe MySpace is no different then the offline world we live in. Temptation everywhere. People of all different types and kinds trying to lure you away from your goals and what you believe. I have gone back on to MySpace with a new resolve to be a positive light to the people there. To be myself and show the world who DJ Bill Lage is and show Jesus through His example! Temptation will always be there if you are online or offline. The goal is to be who God has made you to be and simply keep Chasing Jesus!

Be safe and keep your eyes focused and you will be great. I will be praying for you!

Peace,

DJ Bill Lage

Catholic Dance drops in Sin City

Yes it is true. In order to be a light in this day and age we need to go into the heart of the beast and be a light for Christ! I was honored to have a wonderful opportunity to share the Catholic Dance in Las Vegas this past weekend for over 2000 youth ministers across the nation!

On Friday, I was a part of the artist coffeehouse and the good news is my 2 song set of the Catholic Dance and Follow the Leader resulted in NO ONE getting burned by coffee but it did have everyone up and moving and praising God with their dancing. I was happy to see Full, Conscious, Active, Participation during the 10 minute set (I went over a few minutes!! OOPS!)

On Saturday night, I was a part of the 25th Birthday Bash! I had the opportunity to work with Anna Scally from Cornerstone Media. She is a Catholic Speaker/Disc Jockey and has been doing this for many years. It was truly and honor to share the stage with her and perform for 30 minutes at the end of the program! We did the Catholic Dance (by popular demand) and also had a stage full of people dancing. It was a great set of music in celebration and we gave away a bunch of treasure baskets (which I did not win!) There was much fun and an amazing party and praise atmosphere that is still with me today.

I met a ton of people over the weekend in Las Vegas and look forward to networking and working with many Diocesan leaders for their youth rallies and entertainment. My goal is even if I am not there, the Catholic Dance will be so be sure to go to the Catholic Dance link, learn how to do it and share it with all of your family, friends and youth!

Viva Las Vegas…the Catholic Dance is alive and spreading!

Catholic Dance website is Live!

Welcome to the Catholic Dance website. I am very excited to be able to share with the world a little dance that started in Ada, MN at the Crookston Diocese Youth Rally. Next thing you know it was one of the main attractions for the DJ Bill Lage fun show at all of his church and youth events.

Now the Catholic Dance will be shown to all of the attendants of the NFCYM conference in Las Vegas. On Friday night, I will be a part of the Las Vegas Unplugged—The Artist’s Coffeehouse where myself and about 15 other musical artists and acts will be performing. The cool thing is after this show I will officially be a “Vegas Performer”. I hope I get a video to share with all of you on the site after the show!

I am looking forward to working with my friends Gene and Brad from Apex Ministries! Those crazy guys are amazing and I am sure that they will add a comedic slant to the show like never before…especially with me being their DJ! He he he!

Anyway, please pray for the trip and that God’s work is done. I like to believe that God wants us to dance and celebrate the joy in our lives. This is the whole basis and foundation of the Catholic Dance!

Thanks for stopping by…please feel free to leave a comment!

Peace,
